This week in CoaH Kids - June 5, 2016

ANNOUNCEMENTS

CoaH Kids at 11am: Starting Sunday June 5th, we are switching our full CoaH Kids program from the 9am service to 11am. At 9am, there will only be a nursery program for children ages 0 - 3 yrs old. So sleep in a little bit this summer and have your kids come worship together with their friends at 11am. 

Kids' Summer Adventure: Kids ages 3 yrs - 5th grade are welcome to join us for our annual Kids' Summer Adventure, a day-camp style summer program held July 18-22nd from 9:00am - 12:30pm. We'll be searching for the treasure of God's Amazing Grace! See our website for more details.

NURSERY

Did you know that our CoaH Kids nursery isn't just a nursery? It's a children’s ministry. The difference between the two are subtle yet very important. A nursery's goal is to watch your child while you go to service. Our goal in children’s ministry is to allow children to engage with the same message and community you enjoy.

On Sunday morning we have a snack time and all of the little ones in the nursery sit together on the colored mats to read a Bible story and enjoy snack together. It's really cute to see all of the kids get excited and run to the mats!

We just started reading a new series called Read-Aloud Bible Stories. These books have big, colorful illustrations and introduce some of the most familiar stories of the Bible. Check out this series for yourself here.

 ***IMPORTANT*** We have severe allergies in our nursery-aged kids. We'll have a Cheerios snack (for ages 1 yrs old and up) during Bible story time, but please don't give your child a bagel or other snack when you are checking them in. We clean our toys regularly, but we don't like to take chances.

 

2 - 3 YEAR OLDS

June Memory Verse: Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and they are safe.”

June Theme: God knows everything! Based on 1 Kings 17:1-6, your child learned about God feeding his servant Elijah. 

From the parent take-home page: Make statements comparing your knowledge to God's knowledge. For example, "I don't know how to make it rain. God knows! God knows everything!" Ask your child about things he doesn't know. Then tell him that God knows everything. For example, "Do you know that person's name? God knows. God knows everything." Talk about Elijah. Remind your child that Elijah didn't know how to find water.  Elijah didn't know how to find food. God knew how to find food and water.  (A Sure Foundation, 2005)

 

PRE-K - 5TH GRADE

Memory Verse: Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." 

This Week's Story: Thank you for continuing this journey of The Gospel Project® for Kids. In ancient Israel, living with a skin disease wasn’t easy. It was painful and isolating. Leprosy is a disease caused by bacteria, and it affects the skin, nerves, and mucous membranes. The disease can cause deformities in hands and feet and paralysis of some muscles. Leprosy is contagious, and the people of Israel had laws about what to do when a person becomes infected. 

In today’s Bible story, a man with a serious skin disease approached Jesus and fell down before Him. “If You are willing, You can make me clean,” he said to Jesus. The man’s words were more of a truthful declaration than a request. He clearly trusted in Jesus’ power to heal people, and he longed to be healed himself.

Jesus reached out and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. Typically, no one touched a leper. Touching an unclean person would make you unclean too. But Jesus didn’t become unclean. Instead, the diseased man was immediately healed.

Christ Connection: Not only did Jesus have the power to make a leper clean, He was willing to make him clean. Like the disease of leprosy, sin deeply affects all people and makes them spiritually dead. Jesus willingly died on the cross and rose from the dead to save us from our sin and give us new life
