Kids Worship: Upcoming dates - May 14th & June 11th. Once a month we are going to ask that you take your children into the larger gathering and sing together as a family after you've checked them into CoaH Kids. Then they will be dismissed with their teachers for the regular CoaH Kids program.

PRE-K - 5TH GRADE

This Week's Story is from: Acts 17:1 - 18:21

Memory Verse: Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..."

Summary: Thank you for continuing this journey of The Gospel Project® for Kids. I hope you find true accounts of Paul’s missionary journeys encouraging and empowering. In today’s Bible story, Paul and Silas traveled to Thessalonica and began preaching in the synagogue about Jesus. Some became believers, but others wanted to attack them. Paul and Silas escaped and went to Berea. The Jews in Berea studied the Scriptures to make sure Paul was telling the truth. Many of them believed! But when the Jews in Thessalonica heard what was happening in Berea, they hurried there and caused trouble. So Paul and Silas went to Athens.

The city of Athens was a cultural center. People in Athens loved to hear about and study the latest ideas. Paul spoke with the Jews and the philosophers in the city. Athens was also full of idols to every kind of god. There was even an altar to an unknown god.

Paul began preaching, telling the people that they worshiped a god they did not know. But people can know the Lord God! The one true God made the world and everything in it! God was not like their idols. “We ought not to think that God is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man,” Paul said. Paul told the people that God wanted them to turn away from their sins. Then Paul told them about Jesus and how He was raised from the dead. Some people made fun of Paul, but others believed.

From Athens, Paul went to Corinth. He tried to persuade the Jews in the synagogue that Jesus is the Christ, but they would not listen. Paul spoke to the Gentiles, and many of them believed and were baptized. God continued working through Paul.

Christ Connection: The men of Athens worshiped many false gods. Paul explained to them God’s plan of salvation. He said that only God should be worshiped. Paul talked about Jesus and the resurrection. People can know God because Jesus took the punishment for sin that separates people from God. Only the Lord—the one true God—deserves our worship.

Family Activity: Read to your kids Paul’s description of the one true God in Acts 17:24-31. Invite your family members to think of someone at school or in the community who might believe something different about God, or who might believe that there is no God. Set aside time this week to pray for the opportunity to share with that person the good news about Jesus.

Review Questions for Pre-K – Kindergarteners:

• Why did Paul and Silas have to leave the cities where they told people about Jesus? (People were making trouble)
• How did the people in Athens respond to the good news about Jesus? (some laughed, some wanted to hear more, and some trusted in Jesus)
• Big Picture Question: Who deserves our worship? Only God deserves our worship.
• What did Aquila and Priscilla make? (tents)
• How long did Paul stay in Corinth with Priscilla and Aquila? (a year)

Review Questions for 1st - 3rd Graders:

• What cities did Paul and Silas visit on this journey? (Thessalonica, Berea, Athens, Corinth; Acts 17: 1, 10, 16; 18:1)
• Why were the city leaders in Thessalonica angry at Paul and Silas? (They were teaching that there is another king, Jesus; Acts 17:7)
• What happened in Berea? (Paul taught the people about Jesus and many believed. Then, people from Thessalonica came and caused trouble for Paul so he left; Acts 17:16)
• What did Paul see when he got to Athens? (The city was full of idols, Acts 17:16)
• What did Paul teach the people of Athens? (Paul taught that the one true God does not live in temples built by human hands, and He is in control of all things; Acts 17:24-25)
• Big Picture Question: Who deserves our worship? Only the Lord – the one true God – deserves our worship.

• With whom did Paul preach in Europe? ( Silas, Acts 17:4(
• What city did Paul and Silas first travel to? (Thessalonica, Acts 17:1)
• Who did Paul say was the Messiah (Jesus, Acts 17:3)
• What the the Bereans do when Paul preached? (They studied the scriptures to make sure he was telling the truth, Acts 17:11)
• What was the city of Athens full of? (idols, Acts 17:16)
• Paul found an altar in Athens to which god? (to an unknown god, Acts 17:23)
• Who did Paul meet in Corinth? (Aquila and Priscilla, Acts 18:2)
• Big Picture Question: Who deserves our worship? (On the Lord-the one true God-deserves our worship)

 

2 - 3 YEAR OLDS

April Theme: Jesus died and is alive again (John 19:16b-20:31)

From the parent take-home page:  Show pictures of Jesus on the cross. Talk about Him, being sad because Jesus is on the cross. Tell your child that Jesus had many owies and then Jesus couldn’t move or talk. Then tell your child that Jesus came back! Jesus could move and talk again. Jesus is alive.

Throughout the day, point out to your child things that are alive and things that are not alive. (You may want to stay with the simplest meaning possible. For example, “the dog can walk. The dog can lick my face. The dog is alive. The table can’t walk. The table is not alive.”)

Pray: Thanks Jesus for coming back. Praise Jesus that He is alive.

NURSERY

9AM Nursery: Children ages 0-1 year old are welcome to come play in the nursery at this service. There is a separate ministry for 2 - 3 year olds during this service. We provide cheerios for children over age 1 (unless specified by parents) and we try to spend a little bit of time reading the Bible story books. 

11AM Nursery: Children ages 0-3 years old are welcome to come play in the nursery at this service. We provide cheerios during Bible story reading time for children 1 year and older!

 ***IMPORTANT*** We have severe allergies in our nursery-aged kids. Only cheerios are give as a snack to children ages 1 years+. If your child cannot have cheerios, we will make an exception but feed him/her separately from the group. If possible, please bring a labelled water cup for your child to use during the nursery. If you've forgotten a label, the check-in coordinator would be happy to print out a label for you!
