Women's Retreat 2018: Going Deeper

Last April, about 50 women gathered at a beautiful retreat center in the Berkshires. At that time, I had been attending City on a Hill for less than year. I was going into the retreat feeling discouraged about the looming challenge of forming new relationships, taking more time and energy than I or others had to give. But gathering together in praise with women I didn’t know all that well reminded me that a shared connection to the Holy Spirit yields a different closeness. In fact, one of my favorite memories from that weekend was worshipping together around the fireplace, which felt like we were gathering together in a living room.

I also enjoyed our small group time. I remember how open and to the point my small group was. As we shared and prayed, the Holy Spirit brought us together in our common purpose to live for Him. I left the retreat with God’s reassurance that friendships rooted in Him don’t need years and years to become established. Because He connects us, we can have intimacy with others as we pursue Him in common purpose. This retreat helped break through my false assumptions about friendship and intimacy and move forward, focusing on building relationships rooted in Christ.

On April 13-14, we will be back at the same retreat center with its amazing views overlooking Norwich Lake and very comfortable accommodations. Our retreat theme aligns with CoaH’s focus for the year of going deeper with God and with others. Speakers include Deaconess Gakii Masunga and four women currently going through LEAD fellowship.

You don’t want to miss this opportunity to retreat! For a full 24 hours, our focus will be to love God, love others and to receive love. This is our time for personal reflection and communion with God in a place removed from our regular weekend errands, responsibilities and activities. This is our time to love others, both in caring for sisters we already know and investing in new relationships. It also a time to be ministered to! I look forward to gathering again to worship together this April.

Please sign up now as we are starting to look at small groups, housing and transportation. The deadline to sign up is Friday, April 6!
