ANNOUNCEMENTS

The the CoaH Kids Blog posts are designed to give you an overview of what your kid(s) learned on Sunday mornings. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to email me at mollie@coahchurch.org. 

Reminder: Please send your kids into CoaH Kids ready to worship. Please make sure they've eaten breakfast and have used the restroom. Do not send your child into CoaH Kids while they are actively eating a bagel (or any other food/snack). All food must be consumed before entering the theater or music room under the supervision of the child's parents. We will give a snack and have a bathroom break at some point during CoaH Kids but individual kids eating and using the bathroom during worship or the lesson is disruptive. We want everyone to be able to fully participate when they are checked into CoaH Kids. Thanks!

NURSERY

9AM Nursery: Children ages 0-1 year old are welcome to come play in the nursery at this service. There is a separate ministry for 2 - 3 year olds during this service. We provide cheerios for children over age 1 (unless specified by parents) and we try to spend a little bit of time reading the Bible story books. 

11AM Nursery: Children ages 0-3 years old are welcome to come play in the nursery at this service. We provide cheerios during Bible story reading time for children 1 year and older!

 ***IMPORTANT*** We have severe allergies in our nursery-aged kids. Only cheerios are give as a snack to children ages 1 years+. If your child cannot have cheerios, we will make an exception but feed him/her separately from the group. If possible, please bring a labelled water cup for your child to use during the nursery. If you've forgotten a label, the check-in coordinator would be happy to print out a label for you!

 

2 - 3 YEAR OLDS

February Memory Verse: "Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right." Ephesians 6:1

February Theme: Jesus Love Me (Jesus Loves the Little Children from Matthew 19:13-15)

From the parent take-home page:  Show your child a picture of Jesus and the children from a picture book. Talk about Jesus' love. For example, "Jesus loves this girl. Jesus also loves this girl. Jesus loves this boy. And Jesus loves you. "

Play a "Who loves you?" game with your child. Help your child make a list of people who love him. Make your child understand that Jesus loves him the most. For example, "who loves you?" [Daddy] "Yes!" End with "Jesus loves you the most!" In time you should be able to ask "Who loves you the most?"

Pray: Thank Jesus for loving you. Tell Jesus that you love Him.

PRE-K - 5TH GRADE

This Week's Story is from: Acts 3:1-10; 4:32-37

Memory Verse: Mark 12:30-31 "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these."

Summary: Thank you for continuing this journey of The Gospel Project® for Kids. Over the next three weeks, kids will be learning about the early church. After the Holy Spirit came and the disciples began preaching the gospel, more and more people believed in Jesus. They met together and shared what they had like one big family. God blessed them, and the church grew. (See Acts 2.)

Peter and John were among Jesus’ first disciples. They were fishermen, and when Jesus called them, Peter and John immediately left their work and followed Him. (Matt. 4:18-22) Peter and John still followed Christ after His ascension. Though Jesus was no longer with them physically, the Holy Spirit empowered them to do God’s work.

One day, Peter and John encountered a man at the temple gate. The man was lame from birth, and he depended on the generosity of passersby. When the man looked at Peter and John, he likely hoped for or expected money. Gold or silver would have provided food or clothing, but Peter gave him something even more valuable. “In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” (Acts 3:6) Peter reached out and helped the man to his feet. He was healed! Not by Peter’s power, but by the power of Jesus working through him.

Christ Connection: After Jesus returned to heaven, the Holy Spirit gave the disciples power to keep working. Peter healed a man who was lame with the power of Jesus’ name. God changed the hearts of believers, and they shared what they had so no one was needy. God gives the Holy Spirit to believers today so the church can tell others about Jesus and show them His love.

Family Activity Suggestion: Read Acts 2:40-47 with your kids. Talk about how the members of the early church lived a lot like one big family. Plan a special meal with another family in your church. During the meal, devote yourself to the apostles’ teaching (reading the Bible), breaking the bread (eating), fellowship (enjoying time together), and prayer.

Pre-K – Kindergarteners

• Why did the man sit at the gate of the temple every day? (to ask for money, he could not walk)
• Who brought the man to the gate everyday? (his friends)
• What did the man think Peter and John were going to do for him? (give him money)
• Big Picture Question: How did Peter help the man who could not walk? In Jesus’ name, Peter healed the man who could not walk.
• How did the man feel after he was healed? (He was very happy. He praised God and thanked Him for healing his legs!)

1st - 3rd Grade

• Where did the man who was lame sit every day? (at the temple gate, Acts 3:2)
• What did the man think Peter and John would give him? (money, Acts 3:3)
• Big Picture Question: By whose power did Peter heal the man who was lame? Peter healed the man by the power of Jesus.
• What did the man do once he was healed? (walked, leaped, praised God; Acts 3:8)
• Why was no one needy in the early church? (Everyone sold what he had and gave the money to the disciples. The disciples gave it to those who needed it; Acts 4:34-35)

4th – 6th Grade

• Which of Jesus’ followers went to the temple? (Peter & John, Acts 3:1)
• What was wrong with the man at the gate? (He was lame, he could not walk; Acts 3:2)
• What was the name of the gate? (the Beautiful Gate; Acts 3:2)
• What did the man want from the passersby? (money or alms; Acts 3:2)
• What did Peter give the man? (healing; Acts 3:6)
• Big Picture Question: By whose power did Peter heal the man who was lame? Peter healed the man by the power of Jesus.
• What did the man do in the temple? (Walked, leapt, praised God; Acts 3:8)
• What did the early believers do with their possessions? (shared them; Acts 4:32)
